This practical one-year course offers an introduction to both the theory and hands-on practice of the carpentry and joinery trade. You will learn essential skills, techniques, and safety practices that form the foundation of the industry. The course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and experience needed to either start your career in carpentry or progress to higher-level studies and training in the field.

  • What you will study
    • How to carry out safe working practices in construction
    • Communicating with others
    • Building methods and construction technology
    • Producing basic woodworking joints
    • How to maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
    • How to prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • Entry Requirements

    You must:

    • Be over 19 There are no entry requirements but if you don’t have any qualifications you will be asked to take an English and maths test
  • Assessment

    You will be asked to completed a practical assignment

  • Moving Forward

    You will be able to go into employment as a qualified tradesperson

  • Duration

    1 Year

  • Delivery

    This course is taught on Monday and Wednesdays at 5.30pm-8.30pm
