To support the employer in providing appropriate learning experiences for the children attending the employer’s setting at any given time, ensure the safety and wellbeing of those children and liaise with parents/guardians of those children as requested by the employer.

What will the apprentice be doing?

• To help to set up the room(s) for the daily programme and to help tidy away and clean at the end of the session
• To act as a key person to a group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met
• To work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members
• To advise the manager of any concerns, e.g. health and well-being of children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary
• To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences
• To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures
• To support mealtimes within the setting
• To attend training courses as required and to take responsiblity for personal development

• Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
• Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
• Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths
• Institute of Apprenticeship Certificate

End point assessment:

• Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio
• Knowledge Test

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

• Further progression onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification for the right candidate
